Forbes & Lomax
Forbes & Lomax Limited is a British manufacturer of architectural light switches, dimmers and sockets, established in 1987 and best known for pioneering The Invisible Lightswitch® — a transparent acrylic plate inspired by 1930s glass switches. All plates are handcrafted and assembled by hand at the company's Battersea workshop.
Technical information (manufacturer's site) ↗Forbes & Lomax calls its lever/toggle-style switch a "dolly switch" — the term used in its own literature. We label it "toggle switch" throughout Switch Index to keep terminology consistent across manufacturers.

The Invisible Lightswitch
A 3mm bevelled, 100% recycled acrylic (Perspex) plate with a 0.5mm underplate, secured without fixing screws and sitting flush to the wall. A materially different plate/body construction from the manufacturer's solid metal/painted plate range.
Metal and Painted Plate Switches
Switches and dimmers built into solid metal (brass, bronze, nickel-silver, stainless steel) or primed, paint-ready plates. The manufacturer markets each finish individually with no collective name spanning the line — this range name was assigned by the research process, not the manufacturer.
